After 2020 halted travel plans and canceled trips, there are some pretty incredible hotels in the works. These are the ten new hotel openings to look forward to in 2021.
Pendry Chicago plans to open in Chicago’s Loop in the spring of 2021. Set in the iconic 1929 Art Deco Carbide & Carbon Building, the new hotel will unveil 364 newly reimagined guest rooms and suites. Rooms along Michigan avenue will be equipped with a terrace for guests to take in stunning views. A swanky French brasserie Venteux will debut on the ground floor of the hotel. It will be helmed by Executive Chef/Partner Donald Young, Chicago’s youngest Michelin-starred chef. Additionally, there will be a gym and a 24/7 fitness center featuring all-new Technogym equipment.
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Bishop’s Lodge is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains. The 1920s resort is on 317 acres and is undergoing a renovation of 50 rooms and new construction on 76 rooms with a planned reopening in 2021. Guests can enjoy residential and hotel spaces, a restaurant, a spa, and a fitness center. There’s an event lawn, outdoor grounds, and the highlight—the horse stables. Nunzio Marc DeSantis Architects are behind the project and the interior is designed by HKS.
Moxy Austin is a buzzy new boutique hotel that has plans to open in January 2021. The lifestyle hotel is located in the Campus District, near the State Capitol and close to downtown. HKS was the architect on the project, and Flick Mars was behind the interior design. It will feature 162-rooms. Bar Moxy will double as the guest check-in and bar (because who doesn’t want a drink upon check-in?), and a 24-hour taco food truck dubbed Zombie Taco—which we think we’ll be a hit with the nearby university.
St. Regis Chicago
In July of 2021, luxury brand St. Regis will make its way to downtown Chicago. Located within the 101-story Vista Tower will be The St. Regis Chicago and The Residences at The St. Regis Chicago. It will feature 191 hotel rooms, which includes 33 suites and 393 residences. This building will be Chicago’s third tallest skyscraper. The views will be impressive, including the Chicago River, Lake Michigan, Millennial and Grant Parks, and the Loop skyline from different vantage points. Notable Michelin-star rated Alinea Group will head several dining venues.
The Otis Hotel
Opening on January 13, 2021, the Otis Hotel will have plenty of highlights for guests visiting Austin, Texas. It’s a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection and located in the campus district. It has 347 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant, and 6,500 square feet of meeting and event space. The architect behind the project was HKS, and Flick Mars Interior Design handled the design.
