10 New Hotels Opening 2021
Pendry Chicago
Chicago, Illinois
Pendry Chicago plans to open in Chicago’s Loop in the spring of 2021. Set in the iconic 1929 Art Deco Carbide & Carbon Building, the new hotel will unveil 364 newly reimagined guest rooms and suites. Rooms along Michigan avenue will be equipped with a terrace for guests to take in stunning views. A swanky French brasserie Venteux will debut on the ground floor of the hotel. It will be helmed by Executive Chef/Partner Donald Young, Chicago’s youngest Michelin-starred chef. Additionally, there will be a gym and a 24/7 fitness center featuring all-new Technogym equipment.
Bishop’s Lodge
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Bishop’s Lodge is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains. The 1920s resort is on 317 acres and is undergoing a renovation of 50 rooms and new construction on 76 rooms with a planned reopening in 2021. Guests can enjoy residential and hotel spaces, a restaurant, a spa, and a fitness center. There’s an event lawn, outdoor grounds, and the highlight—the horse stables. Nunzio Marc DeSantis Architects are behind the project and the interior is designed by HKS.
Moxy Austin
Austin, Texas
Moxy Austin is a buzzy new boutique hotel that has plans to open in January 2021. The lifestyle hotel is located in the Campus District, near the State Capitol and close to downtown. HKS was the architect on the project, and Flick Mars was behind the interior design. It will feature 162-rooms. Bar Moxy will double as the guest check-in and bar (because who doesn’t want a drink upon check-in?), and a 24-hour taco food truck dubbed Zombie Taco—which we think we’ll be a hit with the nearby university.
St. Regis Chicago
Chicago, Illinois
In July of 2021, luxury brand St. Regis will make its way to downtown Chicago. Located within the 101-story Vista Tower will be The St. Regis Chicago and The Residences at The St. Regis Chicago. It will feature 191 hotel rooms, which includes 33 suites and 393 residences. This building will be Chicago’s third tallest skyscraper. The views will be impressive, including the Chicago River, Lake Michigan, Millennial and Grant Parks, and the Loop skyline from different vantage points. Notable Michelin-star rated Alinea Group will head several dining venues.
The Otis Hotel
Austin, Texas
Opening on January 13, 2021, the Otis Hotel will have plenty of highlights for guests visiting Austin, Texas. It’s a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection and located in the campus district. Guests won’t want to miss the lavish 4,000-square-foot rooftop deck that is complete with a pool, bar, terrace, and views of the University of Texas. It has 347 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant, and 6,500 square feet of meeting and event space. The architect behind the project was HKS, and Flick Mars Interior Design handled the design.
W Nashville
Nashville, Tennessee
The W Nashville has a projected opening of February 2021. In the city’s Gulch District, this hotel will feel right at home in the upscale neighborhood. There will be 346 guest rooms,—60 suites, and two presidential suites known as Extreme Wow Suites. Highlights include Barista Parler, a coffee shop with 360-degree panoramic views, as well as two restaurants that chef Andrew Carmellini of NoHo Hospitality Group will oversee. Guests can expect a 9,700-square-foot WET Deck that is anchored by a 2,000-square-foot pool. The project is designed by HKS.
Aman New York
New York, New York
In spring 2021, Aman New York will open its doors at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. Designed by architect Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, the hotel will have 83 guest rooms and suites that are pretty large at 750 square feet. Additionally, there will be 22 branded residences, most with an outdoor terrace. A five-story penthouse will also be a highlight. Highlights include three dining options, a jazz club, and a 25,000-square-foot spa.
Austin Marriott Downtown
Austin, Texas
Opening March 2021, the HKS-designed Austin Marriot Downtown will feature 600 guest rooms and 25 suites. The hotel is located across from the Austin Convention Center and near popular shops and hip restaurants. It will feature a rooftop view with incredible views, an onsite restaurant, and 60,000-square-feet of meeting and event space.
JW Marriott Charlotte
North Carolina
For those looking for a luxury new hotel in a prime downtown location of Charlotte, North Carolina, look no further than the JW Marriott. Designed by HKS, the hotel is planning for a May 2021 opening and will be situated across the Charlotte Convention Center in the financial district. Other notable spots nearby include the Nascar Hall of Fame, Bank of America Stadium, and exciting nightlife and shopping options. There will be a rooftop lounge and pool, Spa by JW, a restaurant reflecting local culinary favorites, and meeting and event space.
